MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, December 10. Endicott College's Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.) earned Player of the Week honors. Brooke Susac (Bowmanville, Ont.) of SUNY Canton and Mel McAleer (Hanson, Mass.) of Nichols College were recognized as Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.
Player of the Week
Maggie Layo - Endicott College
(Senior, Forward – Sandwich, Mass.)
Layo netted two goals during a 5-1 win over Wesleyan University on Dec. 8. She had the first and last goal for Endicott, the last coming on a power play opportunity.
Goaltender of the Week
Brooke Susac – SUNY Canton
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Bowmanville, Ont.)
Susac stopped 62 of the 63 shots she faced in a 1-0-1 weekend for the Roos. The sophomore recorded a 35 save shutout, her third of the season, in a 3-0 win vs. UNE on Friday. She followed that up stopping 27 of 28 shots she faced in a 1-1 overtime tie vs. the Nor'easters.
Rookie of the Week
Mel McAleer – Nichols College
(Freshman, Forward – Hanson, Mass.)
McAleer notched five points to help the Bison record the first 3-0-0 week in program history. She posted a goal and an assist in a 3-2 overtime win over Salve Regina - the first in 19 all-time meeting with the Seahawks. McAleer then scored the eventual game-winning goal and dished out a pair of assists in a win over Post University on Saturday.
Tess Adams – SUNY Canton
(Junior, Forward– Calgary, Alta.)
Adams scored a goal and added an assist as the Roos earned a 3-0 win vs. the University of New England on Friday.
Cassandra Goyette – Nichols College
(Junior, Goaltender– Norton, Mass.)
Goyette went 2-0-0 with a .922 save percentage and a 1.99 GAA for the Bison last week. She recorded 28 saves in an overtime win over Salve Regina, which snapped the program's 18-game winless streak against the Seahawks. Goyette then made 19 saves in a 4-2 road win at Post University on Saturday.
