MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, December 3. Kelly Ferreira (North Falmouth, Mass.) of Nichols College earned Player of the Week recognition. Endicott College's Alyssa Peterson (Cranberry Township, Pa.) and Johnson & Wales University's Kaitlin Irvine (Alexandria Bay, N.Y.) were recognized as Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.
Player of the Week
Kelly Ferreira - Nichols College
(Junior, Forward – North Falmouth, Mass.)
Ferreira notched a career-high four points in a road win at New England College. She scored a pair of goals and also dished out two assists in the only action of the weekend for the Bison. One of her assists came on the eventual game-winner that put the team up 5-2 late in the second. Nichols now has three wins after scoring just one all of last season.
Goaltender of the Week
Alyssa Peterson – Endicott College
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Cranberry Township, Pa)
Peterson went 1-0-0 in net for the Gulls this week. She recorded 17 saves during a 3-1 victory over Salve Regina and finished the game with a save percentage of .944.
Rookie of the Week
Kaitlin Irvine – Johnson & Wales University
(Freshman, Forward – Alexandria Bay, N.Y.)
Irvine recorded the first two goals of her career on Saturday against UMass Boston, including the eventual game-winner which came halfway through the final period.
Tamara Bowden – Johnson & Wales University
(Junior, Defense– Weymouth, Mass.)
The defender played a part in over 50 percent of JWU's 7 goals this week. She produced a career-high three assists in a 4-3 win over UMass Boston and had an assist Friday against Salve Regina.
Julia Dares – Salem State University
(Sophomore, Forward– Hanover, Mass.)
Dares scored a pair of goals as Salem State picked up their first win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Plymouth State.
