MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, November 12. Vanessa VanBuskirk (Winthrop, Mass.) of Salem State University earned Player of the Week recognition. Becker College's Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo.) was selected as the league's Goaltender of the Week while Johnson & Wales University's Drea Westgaard (Elf River, Minn.) received Rookie of the Week accolades.
Player of the Week
Vanessa VanBuskirk – Salem State University
(Sophomore, Defense – Winthrop, Mass.)
VanBuskirk had a goal and two assists for Salem State (0-1-1) this week. The sophomore had two assists in a 3-2 loss to Morrisville State and scored the game-tying goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation in a 4-4 tie with the Mustangs.
Goaltender of the Week
Madison Rigsby – Becker College
(Junior, Goaltender – O'Fallon, Mo.)
Becker goaltender Madison Rigsby made 38 saves to gather her first shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Nichols on Saturday evening. On Friday evening, Rigsby was the tough luck loser, allowing just one goal with 47 saves in a 2-1 loss to Nichols. In two games played the junior netminder surrendered only one goal while turning aside a remarkable 85 shots, good for a save% of .988.
Rookie of the Week
Drea Westgaard – Johnson & Wales University
(Freshman, Forward– Elk River, Minn.)
Westgaard scored all three of Johnson & Wales goals this weekend. She tallied a pair of third-period goals to tie Endicott on Friday and help the Wildcats get their first point of the year. She also scored JWU's only goal against the Gulls on Saturday.
Lauren Ferraiulo – Endicott College
(Freshman, Defense – North Haven, Conn.)
Ferraiuolo netted a goal and an assist during Endicott's 2-2 tie against Johnson & Wales. She also was +3 on the week.
