MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, January 29. Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) of Endicott College was recognized as Player of the Week while teammate Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) earned Goaltender of the Week accolades. SUNY Canton's Brooke Susac (Bowmanville, Ont.) was honored as Rookie of the Week.
Player of the Week
Jillian Gibbs - Endicott College
(Freshman, Forward – Burlington, Vt.)
Gibbs fueled Endicott's offense in a pivotal 2-0-0 week by tallying four points on three goals and one assist in league action. In the Gulls' 4-0 win over SUNY Canton on Friday, Gibbs registered two goals, then on Saturday she notched the overtime game-winner with 2:51 remaining in the extra session. Gibbs also assisted on Endicott's first goal of the game, which helped sparked the comeback effort.
Goaltender of the Week
Vendela Jonsson – Endicott College
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Linkoping Sweden)
Jonsson recorded her 12th career shutout in her only start on the week as the sophomore goaltender blanked SUNY Canton in a 4-0 win with 28 saves.
Rookie of the Week
Brooke Susac – SUNY Canton
(Freshman, Goaltender – Bowmanville, Ont.)
Susac totaled 83 saves in a pair of conference games at Endicott College over the weekend. She turned aside a career-high 43 shots keeping the Roos in the game on Friday. The freshman followed that up with 40 more saves as Canton led the Gulls 2-0 and took the previously unbeaten Gulls into overtime before eventually falling, 3-2.
Kanekaroroks McComber – Morrisville State College
(Senior, Forward – Kahnawake, Que.)
McComber had a four-point weekend in the sweep over Becker College for the Mustangs, registering two goals and two assists in two games. She posted a goal and assist in each contest, assisting in keeping the Mustangs undefeated in conference play.
