MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, January 15. The duo of Casey Chodkowski (Somerset, Mass.) and Julia Aberg (Stockholm. Sweden) of Johnson & Wales University were recognized as Player and Goaltender of the Week respectively. Morrisville State College's Jessica Ujcik earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Player of the Week
Casey Chodkowski – Johnson & Wales University
(Sophomore, Forward – Somerset, Mass.)
Chodkowski had a pair of career-best games this week for the Wildcats. The sophomore forward scored two goals against Nichols, marking her first career two-goal game and then added a goal and two assists in the win over Post University for the first three-point game of her career as JWU went 2-0-0 on the week.
Goaltender of the Week
Julia Aberg – Johnson & Wales University
(Freshman, Goaltender – Stockholm, Sweden)
Aberg posted a shutout in her only performance of the week, the Wildcats' 5-0 win over Nichols. She recorded 14 saves in the contest. This marked her second shutout of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Jessica Ujcik – Morrisville State College
(Freshman, Defense – Munich, Germany)
Ujcik led Morrisville State to a 2-0 week with nonconference wins over Sacred Heart University. In Tuesday's contest, she tallied the game-winning goal with 13 seconds remaining in the overtime period to give Morrisville State the 3-2 OT win. She followed that performance with her second score of the series on Wednesday, the first Mustang tally to even the contest at one just 1:04 into the final period en route to the 2-1 victory.
Kathryn Mason – Johnson & Wales University
(Freshman, Forward – Grafton, Mass.)
Mason had five points this week, starting with two assists in the win over Nichols College on Wednesday. She followed that by recording the first three-point game of her career with two goals and an assist against Post University.
