MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, January 8. Stevenson University's Chelsea Blackburn (Westland, Mich.) was recognized as the league's Player of the Week. Becker College's Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo.) was named Goaltender of the Week, while Vanessa Kilmpke (Winnipeg, Manitoba) of Morrisville State College earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Player of the Week
Chelsea Blackburn – Stevenson University
(Junior, Forward – Westland, Mich.)
Totaled nine goals and two assists in a 3-1 week for the Mustangs. Recorded a program-record seven points and five goals, including the 50th of her career, in a 13-0 win over Post. It was her fourth career hat trick after scoring four times in the third period. Scored a goal in the first game versus Lebanon Valley before scoring her fifth career hat trick in the home game versus LVC.
Goaltender of the Week
Madison Rigsby – Becker College
(Sophomore, Goaltender – O'Fallon, Mo.)
Rigsby turned away 44 shots to lead the Becker College Ice Hawks to a 5-2 victory over Chatham University on Saturday evening. Rigsby held a shutout through the first two periods, stopping 26 shots. Rigsby also forced the Cougars to finish the game with an 0-8 showing on the power-play.
Rookie of the Week
Vanessa Klimpke – Morrisville State College
(Freshman, Forward – Winnipeg, Manitoba)
Klimpke led Morrisville State to the non-conference sweep over SUNY Cortland, posting five goals across the two game weekend as the Mustangs downed the Red Dragons 4-1 and 5-1. In Friday afternoon's contest, Klimpke posted the hat trick, and followed with two additional scores Saturday. She is currently tied for first in the nation in goals per game (1.31) and is second in freshman scoring (1.69 points per game).
Julian Martinsson – Johnson & Wales University
(Freshman, Forward – Charlottenberg, Sweden)
Martinsson scored a pair of goals in the third period as the Wildcats came back to beat New England College on Friday. She also tallied a power play to tie the game at 2-2 then scored the go-ahead goal later in the period. Martinsson has scored four goals in her last three games.
Ellen Carter – Endicott College
(Sophomore, Defense – Roseville, Minn.)
Carter led Endicott offensively with two goals and two assists for four points on the week. Carter also finished with a plus-5 rating, and blocked a team-high 13 shots over three games played. Against Castleton on Saturday, Carter registered a single-game career-high two goals, and also dished out one assist to compile a single-game career-high three points on the night. It was the first multi-point game of her career. Carter's other assist on the week came in the Gulls' 4-3 win versus Colby.
Caitie Darosa – Stevenson University
(Sophomore, Goaltender– Madison, Conn.)
Darosa posted a 1-1-0 record this week. Recorded a career-high 32 saves in a 1-0 loss versus Bowdoin before totaling five saves in 45:51 of play in a 5-0 win over Lebanon Valley.
