2016-17 CHC Weekly Release #6

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, December 4. Maddy Ricci (Wilmington, Mass.) of Stevenson University was selected as the league's Player of the Week. Endicott College teammates Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) and Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) earned Co-Goaltender and Rookie of the Week honors respectively. Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo.) of Becker College also earned Co-Goaltender of the Week accolades. 


Player of the Week

Maddy Ricci – Stevenson University
(Sophomore, Forward – Wilmington, Mass.)

Ricci led the Mustangs to a 2-0 week, totaling four points on a goal and three assists. She scored the lone goal in a 1-0 overtime win versus Johnson & Wales before dishing out three assists in a 6-3 victory over Manhattanville.


Co-Goaltenders of the Week

Vendela Jonsson – Endicott College
(Sophomore, Goaltender– Linkoping, Sweden)

Jonsson stopped 31 shots (one shy of her season-high) in a 4-1 win over William Smith on Sunday evening. Her 14 saves in the third period were a game-high for either program. The win keeps the Gulls undefeated on the season at 9-0-0. 


Madison Rigsby – Becker College
(Sophomore, Goaltender– O'Fallon, Mo.)

Rigsby went 1-0 this week with a 31 save performance against Nichols College on Saturday evening. The sophomore netminder turned aside 15 shots in the third period alone to help lead the Hawks to a key nonconference victory.


Rookie of the Week

Jillian Gibbs – Endicott College
(Freshman, Forward – Burlington, Vt.)

Gibbs keyed Endicott's 2-0-0 weekend against Saint Michael's and William Smith by compiling two goals and two assists for four points. On Saturday versus Saint Michael's, Gibbs scored a career-high two goals, including a half-ice breakaway tally, before she notched two primary assists on Sunday setting up Jade Meier twice with perfect scoring chances. Along with a four-point weekend, Gibbs finished +4 and also recorded one blocked shot.


Honor Roll

Jade Meier – Endicott College
(Freshman, Forward – Fairbanks, Alaska)

Meier led the Gulls in points in their 2-0-0 weekend with five total on three goals and two assists. On Saturday against Saint Michael's, Meier recorded a career-high three points behind a power play goal and two assists, before she netted two tallies including the game-winner versus William Smith on Sunday.


Claudia Gee – Becker College
(Sophomore, Forward – Randolph, Vt.)

Gee scored three goals this past week as the Ice Hawks went 1-0-1. Gee scored the game-tying goal with 5:27 remaining in regulation in a 2-2 tie in the first game of a home and home series with Nichols College. Gee then scored a pair of goals in a 4-1 victory over the Bison on Saturday evening.
